Renee Asteria & 7th Street's music unites hard-hitting Roots Reggae and passionate Latin grooves. Described as “musically adventurous” and “a one of a kind breaking of all rules” (C. Foster, Reggae Update, getthebeat.com), Renee Asteria’s songwriting reflects her life experience, multicultural background (US-born, Bolivian-Dutch heritage) and strong commitment to justice. In her junior album “Faces of Agent Double E” Renee marked a stylistic transition by taking her Latin-folk style and weaving it into Reggae.
After a history of musical projects in the Americas (Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, USA) and Europe (France, Switzerland) which culminated in a summer debut at the Montreal Jazz Festival in July 2008, Renee Asteria has united forces with 7th Street Sound and is developing a new genre “Female Fronted Latin Roots Reggae”.
Renee Asteria & 7th Street Sound are performing a hot, never before heard set of all original material through out the Bay Area. Previews of “One Night” and “Tryin” two tunes from “R7”, their debut LP to be released in 2009 can be found on http://myspace.com/reneeasteria and http://myspace.com/7thstreetsound .
